[307] ἀπ᾽ Ἀθηνάων. Orestes came, according to the tragic legend, from Phocis. See crit. note. Aeschylus makes him visit Athens after the fatal deed. The Phocians are mentioned Il.2. 517.We find “Ἀθήνη” ( Od.7. 80) as well as “Ἀθῆναι” ( Il.3. 546) for the name of the city; and similarly “Μυκήνη”, as here, but “Μυκῆναι Il.2. 569.
