[365] ἰφθίμου. This has been variously derived from “ἶφι-τιμή”, or “ἶφι-θυμός”. It is simpler to refer it only to “ἶφι”, the epenthesis of the “θ” in the latter half of the word being analogous to its introduction in such forms as “ἱμάσθλη, βαθμός, ῥυθμός”.
