[65] ἔπειτα = ‘after all this.’ This “ἔπειτα” is the forerunner of the so-called εἶτα indignantis of later Greek. It is worth noticing that whereas afterwards “ἔπειτα” only retained its literal sense expressive of sequence of time, it has in Homer the more artificial sense as well of sequence in reasoning.
