[179] νῆις, ‘untrained,’ as Il.7. 198.In the next line μυθεῖαι deseribes the somewhat artificial and pompous manner in which the suggestion was expressed. ‘I am not untrained in contests, as thy highflown imputation runs, but I trow I was for prowess among the first, when I was sure of my mettle and strength of hand.’
