[483] τυτθὸνἱκέσθαι. This line cannot be read here, though it is appropriate enough in v. 540. A stone that fell προπάροιθε νεός would not go near the οἰήιον. Probably the missile passed clean over the ship and fell before her bows; as it appears, from v. 489 foll., that the stern was the part toward the shore.
