[72] δειδέχαται μύθοισιν, ‘welcome with loyal speeches.’ δειδέχαται (“δείκνυμι”) is the perfect tense; in Il.9. 224 we have “δείδεκτο”, and in Il.4. 4δειδέχατο”. The perfect appears as “δέδειγμαι”. Soph. Fr.379Dind. With the strengthened form of reduplication compare “εἵμαρμαι, δείδοικα”, and “δειδίσκομαι” from root “δικ”.
