[328] ὀπωρινός, from “ὀπώρα”, ‘the ripening season.’ It includes our ‘midsummer’ as well as ‘autumn,’ beginning with the rising of the Dog Star and ending with the setting of the Pleiads; that is, from the end of July to the end of October. It follows directly after “θέρος Od.11. 192, etc.
