[15] κεκαλυμμένοι is assimilated in number and gender to “Κιμμέριοι”, implied in the words K. δῆμός τε πόλις τε. The use of the words “δῆμος” and “πόλις” gives a sort of reality to the narration; but it is difficult to conceive of social life going on in a country overshadowed by perpetual night. So Schol. V. B. asks “πῶς οὖν ζῶσιν”;
