[168] ὀψέ = not only ‘late in the day,’ but (as here) ‘after a long interval;’ thus in Od.4. 704-706 it is contrasted with “δήν. δὴν δέ μιν ἀμφασίη ἐπέων λάβε . . ὀψὲ δὲ δή μιν ἔπεσσιν ἀμειβομένη προσέειπε”.
