[267] θρασυμέμνονα, epithet of Heracles here and in Il.5. 639, was generally regarded as equivalent to “ὃς θρασέως μένει”. It is rather “θρασέως μεμαώς”, as if “θρασυ-μέν-μων”, where “μεν” =root “μα”, or, more directly, from “μέμονα”.

θυμολέοντα is used of Odysseus Od.4. 724 Od., 814.
