[418] ἐπαρξάσθω. This word denotes the pouring in of the first drop, which was then immediately poured out in libation (σπείσαντες), and the full draught poured in by the οἰνοχόος. The preposition “ἐπί” has the force of going ‘round’ the company: see on 14. 294.

For the use of ἀλλ᾽ ἄγε as a kind of indeclinable word or interjection, where the context requires a verb in the plural, cp. 13. 13., 16. 348., 18. 55., 20. 296, 314., 21. 111, 263, 281, 336.
