[322] αὐτόετες οἰχνεῦσι, ‘can wend in the space of one year.’ “οἰχνεῖν” is commonly used of customary action, as in 6. 157; 9. 120. τε_ δεινόν τε. With a single exception ( Il.8. 133) “δεινός” always lengthens a preceding short vowel, by the force of the original digamma, (“δϝεινός”).
