[227] ἀμφιμέμυκεν, ‘rings’ or ‘echoes round.’ “μυκάομαι” is used in Homer, not only of the noise made by cattle, but of the creaking of hinges, Il. 5. 749, and of the ringing blow of a javelin on a shield, Il. 20. 260.
