[197] ἔσθειν. For this poetical present from the root “ἐδ”, beside the usual “ἐσ-θίω”, see Curtius, Verb, p. 207.

οἷα. The neuter plural implies the various kinds of food included under “πᾶσαν ἐδωδήν”. So in Od.14. 62κτῆσιν . . οἷά τε οἰκῆι ἄναξ εὔθυμος ἔδωκε”. See also inf. 422, and Od.8. 365.Though Calypso sets before Odysseus mortal food, she uses nectar and ambrosia herself.
