[240] ἄρτια βάζειν, ‘to speak with sound judgment.’ ἄρτιος is equivalent to sanus, and hence is either ‘sound’ as here, or ‘sincere’ as in Od.19. 248ὅτι οἱ φρεσὶν ἄρτια ᾔδη”. The final vowel of ἐπίσταιτο is lengthened in arsis before the digamma.
