[402] The form of the sentence is that in which the speaker begins by giving the reason, and then goes on to announce what he will do: but here the latter part is left unexpressed, being sufficiently conveyed by the ironical tone of what has been already said.

οὕτω ‘on that plan,’ ‘if I did as you say.’ On Homeric “ἀρετή” cp. 13. 45.
