[387] τοῦ πόδας ἐξαπένιζε ‘from it (with water taken from it) she set about washing his feet.’ “ἐξ” as in 10. 361 “λὄ ἐκ τρίποδος”: so 6. 224. Nearly all the MSS. have “τῷ”, but this does not give so good a construction for “ἐξαπένιζε”. Note the impf., ‘she was going to wash.’
