[373] ἀποείπω, ‘may speak out;’ see on supra 91. ἀπηλεγέως from adjective “ἀπηλεγής”, cp. “δυσηλεγής Od.22. 225, is compounded of “ἀπό” and “ἀλέγειν”, with the idea of freedom from any care or restraint. For the lengthening of the initial vowel of the latter part of a compound derived from a dissyllabic verbal stem beginning with a vowel, cp. “ἱππ-ηλάτα” (“ἐλα”), “ἐπ-ήρα-τος” (“ἐρα”), “ἀν-ήμελκτος” (“ἀμελγ”), “δι-ηνεκ-ής” (“ἐνεκ”), Monro, H. G. § 125.
