[576] ἄεθλον τοῦτον ἐφήσω violates the rule against a naturally short syllable lengthened by position in the second half of the fourth foot: hence Wernicke, who pointed out the rule (Tryphiod. p. 174), conj. “ἐφήσω τοῦτον ἄεθλον” (cp. l. 584). See the note on 24. 240.
