[107] ἦρχεἄλλοι=‘praeibat illi eam ipsam viam quam ceteri ibant.’ For “αὐτός”, signifying ‘the same,’ cp. Od.10. 263τὸν δ᾽ ἂψ ἠνώγεα αὐτὴν ὁδὸν ἡγήσασθαι Od., 16. 138 αὐτὴν ὁδὸν . . ἔλθω”, Il.12. 225ἐλευσόμεθ᾽ αὐτὰ κέλευθα”. Cp. Soph. Ant.929ἔτι τῶν αὐτῶν ἀνέμων αὐταὶ ψυχῆς ῥιπαὶ τήνδε γ᾽ ἔχουσι”, where however it is possible that “αὐταὶ αὑταί”] tacitly borrows the article from the preceding “τῶν αὐτῶν”.
