[135] ἀβληχρός (cp. Il.5. 337; 8. 178), probably from euphon. “” and “βληχρός” related to “μαλακός”; see Buttm. Lex.s. v. “βλίττειν”.

For μάλα τοῖος=‘ever so [gentle],’ see on Od. 1.209. Here the gesture that interprets “τοῖος” (“δεικτικῶς”) may be a slow dropping of the hand; as “σιγῇ τοῖον” ( Od.4. 776) is the finger on the lip; “μέγα τοῖον” the outspread arms; “μείδησε σαρδάνιον μάλα τοῖον” ( Od.20. 302) a grimace.
