[628] καθῆστο retains the singular number, though really having two subjects, inasmuch as it stands more closely with the former. Compare “κῦμα φόρει κραιπναί τε θύελλαι Od.6. 171, “Ἀντίνοος δ᾽ ἔτ᾽ ἐπεῖχε καὶ Εὐρύμαχος θεοειδὴς

ἀρχοὶ μνηστήρων” ib. 21. 186.
