[305] Ἰφιμέδεια was daughter of Triops, king of Thessaly. Aloeus, her uncle and husband, is described as son of Poseidon by Canace daughter of Aeolus. Iphimedeia alleged (φάσκε, as sup. 236 “φάτο”, and 261 “εὔχετο”) that she was mother of Otus and Ephialtes by Poseidon; the common form of legend reappearing, as in the story of Tyro, Antiope, Alcmene, and Leda.
