[198] With κείρασθαι supply again “τινά” as subject. The infinitive is the epexegesis of γέρας, compare Il.2. 5; Od.1. 83; 2.284; 8.506; 9. 511; 10. 483. For the custom referred to in the verb compare Il.23. 46, 135; Od.24. 46.The lines 197-8 are parenthetical, as “καὶ γάρ” follows directly upon “νεμεσσῶμαι”.
