[451] οὔ τιθάμιζεν, ‘he was not wont to be so cared for;’ this is a litotes. θαμίζειν is commonly used with an accessory participle in Greek; as Plat. Rep.328 A Σώκρατες, οὐδὲ θαμίζεις ἡμῖν καταβαίνων εἰς τὸν Πειραιᾶ”, but also absolutely, as Soph. O. C.672ἀηδὼν . . θαμίζουσα μάλιστα”.
