[195] μεσσηγύς. This is sometimes quoted as the only passage in which μεσσηγύς=interim. It commonly refers to space and not to time, and there is no need to make the exception here, as Schol. P. rightly interprets “ἀναμεταξὺ ἡμῶν καὶ τῆς τούτων πόλεως”, which meaning will be quite sufficient preparation for πρίν which follows.
