[62] κερκίδι. The κερκίς is generally considered equivalent to the later “σπάθη”, the wooden rod or blade used to strike the threads of the woof close together. It seems better to take it of the shuttle (connected with “κρέκω, κρόκος”), as the use of the word by Eurip. ( Eurip. Troad.198οὐχ ἱστοῖς κερκίδα δινεύουσ᾽ ἐξαλλάξω”) could not refer to the “σπάθη”.
