[653] οἵ οἱ ἕποντ᾽, illi eum sequebantur, “οἵ” resumes “κοῦροι”, the main subject.

ἐν δέ, ‘and among them;’ cp. Soph. O. R.181ἐν δ᾽ ἄλοχοι πολιαί τ᾽ ἔπι ματέρες”. Unless ἐνβαίνοντα means ‘going aboard,’ which seems more likely from inf. 656.
