[59] περ. The variation of meaning in this particle is exactly analogous to that of “ἔμπης”. Though etymologically they would rather mean ‘very much,’ ‘by all means,’ they are more often used with a qualifying or concessive force = ‘at any rate,’ ‘at least,’ which is reflected upon them from the word with which they are used or the context in which they occur.
