[234] πέλεκυς (Skt. paras/us) is the axe for felling (cp. “ἐκβάλλειν” inf. 244), and is therefore called “ξυλοκόποςXen. Cyr.6. 2. 36.

ἄρμενον ἐν παλάμῃσι must be joined together, as in Il.18. 600, where the potter's wheel is described as “τροχὸν ἄρμενον ἐν παλάμῃσι”. Compare also Il.19. 395μάστιγα φαεινὴν χειρὶ λαβὼν ἀραρυῖαν”.
