[160] πι_όμενος is fut. part.

δὴ γάρ μιν, ‘for sorely the sun's power oppressed him.’

ἔχειν is here used with μένος, on the analogy of “ὕπνος ἔχει τινά Il.2. 2; or “φύζα Il.9. 2; “λύσσα Il.21. 542.Some take δή (see crit. note) in a temporal sense here=‘already,’ as though intended to express that the sun was hot, though it was yet early.
